about us

8storeytree / thirtysix

8storeytree started out as an artistic approach to document everyday life with analogue photography. We've been making interesting toy cameras and rare films available through our online store since 2007. 8storeytree has branched out in 2009 with the opening of our shop, Thirtysix. It is the first toy camera boutique in Singapore, dedicating to spread the love of experimental photography and cultivate the art of visual expression. Thirtysix offers a wide range of Lomography products, analogue and digital toy cameras, accessories and an unlimited supply of films to keep you trigger-happy.

LomotionSG

Two lomo enthusiasts, who felt bored after shooting each other, decided to look for new friends. They hunted around for a local lomo community but to no avail. To satisfy their insatiable hunger for excitement, it was apparent they had to do something about it. Nine days later, on the 27th October 2006, Lomotion Singapore was born. Within months, more and more members were added to the happy family. They all share the same aim of spreading the love for lomography.

Outings after outings, rolls after rolls, they decided to piece up the fun they had together and celebrate the friendships that had developed over time. In October 2007, Lomotion held its first exhibition named Tikam Tikam, at Maad @ Red Dot Design Museum. The exhibition boasted three gigantic lomowalls, consisting of a thousand over stunning lomographs and attracted hundreds over people over two days.

How it all started..
The 36 frames project was originally created by ndroo, www.fuzzyeyeballs.com. The main concept of the projects was to challenge the photographers for different interpretations of the themes. With a limited time and the incapability to reshoot the themes (since it's on film) pushes the photographer's mind to its limits.

3rd Jun '09, the first 36 frames project was held on www.fuzzyeyeballs.com.

17th Aug '09, the second 36 frames project was held with thrice as much participants.

27th Sep '09, LomotionSG adopted the concept and brought it further to another level, organising the project in an 4 hour, same location, shootout. More details.

3rd Oct '10, LomotionSG commenced the 36 frames project once again with a twist. More details.

'Playground' was the 2nd exhibition by LomotionSG in 2008.

'Sunny Rehab' was first organised in 2007 just before LomotionSG's first exhibition, 'Tikam Tikam'. Thereafter, it was organised and made a yearly event for LomotionSG.
